K-Pop Dance

Learn the most popular K-POP dance steps from professional dancers!

Dancing from a young age allows children to strengthen their brain and body coordination, good for balance training while learning the most fashionable dance steps. Brisk rhythms can also help train children's rhythmic sense and concentration.

EAV offers K-POP courses in small classes, tailored to students' dance level. Through group dance classes, your children can make friends and develop interest in dancing together, which can enhance social skills and self-confidence. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in dance competitions under the recommendation of dance instructors to gain performance experience.

K Pop classes:

Level 1 : Aged 3-6
Level 2 : Aged 7-9
Level 3 : Aged 10-13

For every section, the students will learn a current Korean pop culture song. This class will be a dance cover of the original pop song, and will be taught over 6 classes. This class is recommended for intermediate to advanced dancers, some dance experience is required.

Jazz Funk classes:

Level 1 : Aged 3-6

Level 2 : Aged 7-9

Level 3 : Aged 10-13

For every section, students will learn a current western pop song, this will take place over 8 classes. This class will be original Dave Wong choreography and will be taught over 8 classes. This class is recommended for beginners, no dancing experience is required.

Our Instructor

Dave Wong is a member of Hong Kong hip hop group Lucky Boys and a famous dance teacher. Dave has extensive experience. He was the chief teacher of the famous Sunny Wong dance school in Hong Kong. He once conducted personal training for different entertainers and taught family courses. Dave participated in the selection of TVB Superstar 3 in 2011 and successfully reached the semi-finals. His performance was recognized by 9DMMG, and later joined 9DTV, and participated in a variety of MV, commercials, short films and song recording. Later, he joined Lucky Boys with the ideal of spreading positive energy. Dave's dance expertise includes Waacking, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, fitness dance, modern dance and Chinese dance.

English Drama

English drama is a fun and interactive way to teach children oral English combined with acting skills. Students will be trained in groups by professionals in order to foster problem-solving skills, communication skills and personal growth. The English drama course also includes regular performances for children to practise their drama skills.

Students can apply for the Trinity Exams - Drama and Speech with the help of our tutors to obtain an English qualification.

Drama Workshop (Aged 5-12)

Our Drama Workshop enhances not just a student’s language ability, but also their personal development. In our Drama Workshop, students develop not only their language and communication skills, but also learn other useful skills that can be applied outside of class.

In the Workshop, students develop their language ability by:

Having a speaking part.
Learning how to speak with clear correct English pronunciation
Physical activities teaching them how to project their voice and speak in a clear manner.
Using their body and face to communicate non-verbally.

English Phonics

English phonics is the foundation of good English oral ability. Your child will learn pronunciation and remember sounds to cultivate their English oral skills. While learning the 42 letter sounds, students will also acquire useful vocabulary and create words and phrases creatively. Research has also shown that the self-learning abilities of youngsters increase after phonics instruction.

Content of the class:

Jolly Phonics is a fun student centered approach developed over 25 years and used in over 100 countries worldwide to teach English literacy skills. It uses a multisensory approach to teaching reading, writing, and speaking using songs, actions, visuals, and more to cater to the different ways students like to learn.

Throughout the different levels, students will learn more than just the letter sounds.

They will also learn:

How to write the letters correctly, to link the letters and digraphs to the sounds, how to blend the sounds into words, how to break down words into their individual sounds order to spell them, and finally, learn the “tricky words”: words which do not follow the rules of phonics. As students advance, they will learn proper English pronunciation, practice reading and writing words, making simple sentences, and finally writing simple stories on their own.

Jolly Phonics Level One

This level introduces students to the basic 42 sounds of English. The sounds are not taught in alphabetical order, but in such a way that students can start forming words as soon as they learn the first few letter sounds.

Students will learn:

The sounds that the letters and their combinations make,
The proper way to form the letters,
How to blend the letters and their sounds into words,
How to break words into their different sounds in order to be able to spell them,
Be introduced to their first “Tricky Words”, which are important words that do not follow normal phonics rules and have to be learned by sight.

Jolly Phonics Level Two

This level builds on the foundation skills learned in Level One. In this level:

Students learn how to write capital letters, and to link them to their lower case counterparts,
Alternative spellings for the different letter sounds are introduced, such as the letter y making the long e sound on the end of a word, as in funny, or making the long i sound, as in the word my.
Previous “Tricky Words” are revised, and more are added to their vocabulary,
They practice writing words through dictation exercises,
Students do simple independent writing exercises, and are given a topic, picture, and model sentence to provide a framework,
They practice their reading skills through comprehension exercises, and graded easy readers.

Jolly Phonics Level Three

In this level the goal is to build student’s English language skills so that they may become more confident readers, writers, and speakers of English. This is done by:

Introducing more difficult alternative sound spellings, such as ph- making the f sound as in phone, or -igh making the long i sound as in high,
Previous “Tricky Words” are revised, and many more are added,
Instead of just words, students now practice writing sentences through dictation,
Greater emphasis is put on reading comprehension exercises,
Students are given more freedom in doing their independent writing exercises.

GAPSK Mandarin Proficiency Assessment Course

(Primary School Level)

The GAPSK course is specially designed to prepare Primary School students for taking the proficiency test. Professional Mandarin Chinese instructor will prepare test materials, including listening, oral, reciting and pronunciation practices, and teach students to speak mandarin as if they are native speakers and pass the GAPSK exam with flying colours. The teacher will train students' confidence through listening, oral and self-introduction exercises.

Primary school P1-P6

Course content：

Main points of writing and oral exam;
Teaching students to master the key points of the test in an effective time, be familiar with and understand the rules on use of Chinese, to obtain excellent results;
Consolidate the Chinese knowledge that student obtained from school and strengthen the ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing Mandarin Chinese.

Mandarin Chinese Class

EAV also provides regular classes to train students in Mandarin Chinese. We have Kindergarten Mandarin Chinese Classes, Mandarin Chinese Pinyin Classes and Speech Festival Classes.

Kindergarten Mandarin Chinese Class

Target：Kindergarten K1-K3

Class levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced

Teachers will train students' Mandarin Chinese integrated language ability according to the students' ability so that students can build their listening, oral, reading, writing and problem-solving ability.

The center can register students for the GAPSK Proficiency Test and KPCC Proficiency Test. GAPSK was developed by the Institute of Chinese Education of Peking University.

It is a test specifically designed to examine the standard and proficiency of Mandarin Chinese of kindergarten students in Hong Kong, Macao and overseas Cantonese dialect community.

The KPCC is accredited by Beijing Tsinghua Unigroup and Tsinghua University Foreign Language and Culture Education Center. It is the first certificate for testing children's Mandarin Chinese language ability in Hong Kong.

At present, the legitimacy of the above two Putonghua Proficiency Tests is relatively high, for candidates that are from K1 to K3. Obtaining such certificate is an encouragement for students to learn and also lay a solid foundation for further studies.

Mandarin Chinese Pinyin Class

Target：Kindergarten and Primary School Students

The course focuses on Pinyin learning. According to the learning abilities of students of different ages, teachers will provide a variety of suitable learning materials, including interactive learning and games, so that students can master the method of reading Mandarin Chinese Pinyin, and comprehensively improve students' reading, writing, and the ability to recognize Chinese characters and lay a good foundation in Mandarin Chinese.

Speech Festival Class

Target: Kindergarten and Primary School Students

Through the training of recitation, the course develops students' expressive ability and influence in the learning process of different recitation materials, improves children's self-confidence, and establishes a good self-image. In response to different recitation competitions from all walks of life, it helps students participating in the competition to analyze and interpret the recitation materials, strengthen the use of recitation skills, and make students stand out in the competition.

Chinese Studies Class

Target: Kindergarten and Primary School Students

This course aims to ignite children's passion for History through famous stories, idiom stories, nursery rhymes, poetry and Confucian Analects. Thus, when children encounter difficulties in life and in learning, they can adopt a positive mindset.

Adult Mandarin Chinese Course

Target: Any adults or company training

To allow students to immerse in a Mandarin-orientated environment while learning, the course will be taught in Mandarin Chinese. (Cantonese can be provided to assist comprehension of the language.) We provide professional education to help students grasp Mandarin Chinese pronunciation, as well as be able to communicate in standard and fluent Mandarin Chinese. Not only can this improve daily communication skills, but also help with interactions in the work environment.

Course Content

Our curriculum includes tests that will help engage and evaluate kid’s performance. At this stage kids can get more in depth with the language. Our curriculum is based on IGCSE, majority of International Schools in Hong Kong have adopted the British system that will better prepare them for future exams. Ad well our curriculum covers HKDSE and Spanish is becoming a popular choice for secondary school students. The aim is to develop an ability to use the language effectively for practical communication. Adults can learn and have fun at the same time, this curriculum is based on DELE (Official Spanish Diploma). We use ETAPAS as our learning materials.

The goals of this course are to:

develop the ability to communicate effectively using Spanish language
offer insights into the culture and society of countries where the language is spoken
develop awareness of the nature of language and language learning
encourage positive attitudes towards speakers of other languages and a sympathetic approach to other cultures
provide enjoyment and intellectual stimulation

DELE Spanish Diplomas are divided into six levels:

Spanish Diploma Level A1 (Breakthrough)

Certifies that the student is able to communicate using the language in a basic way in situations having to do with immediate needs or everyday situations.

Spanish Diploma Level A2 (Waystage)

Certifies that the candidate can understand commonly used, everyday phrases and expressions related to areas of experience especially relevant to them (basic information about themselves and their families, shopping, places of interest, work, etc.).

Spanish Diploma Level B1 (Threshold)

Certifies candidates’ capacity to understand the gist of clear texts, in standard language, if they involve well-known topics related to work, studies or leisure. It also certifies students’ ability to deal with most situations that occur while travelling in areas where Spanish is spoken; to produce simple and coherent texts about familiar topics, or topics of personal interest; and lastly to be able to describe experiences, events, wishes and hopes, as well as to be able to briefly express opinions or explain plans.

Spanish Diploma Level B2 (Vantage)

Certifies students’ ability to interact with native speakers with a sufficient degree of fluency and spontaneity to enable easy and natural communication between interlocutors; produce clear and detailed texts about diverse topics, as well as defend an opinion about general topics, expressing the pros and cons for each argument; and lastly, understand the gist of complex texts about both concrete and abstract topics, including technical texts, provided they are within the candidate’s area of expertise.

Spanish Diploma Level C1 (Effective Operational Proficiency)

Certifies sufficient linguistic competence to understand a wide variety of lengthy, and somewhat demanding texts, as well as to grasp implicit meaning in the same; to express themselves fluently and spontaneously without apparent effort to find the right words; to be able to use the language flexibly and effectively for social, academic, and professional purposes; and finally, to be able to produce clear, well-structured, and detailed texts about topics of some complexity, correctly using mechanisms of organization, articulation, and cohesion in the text.

Spanish Diploma Level C2 (Mastery)

Certifies sufficient linguistic competence to communicate effectively in any situation, proving ability to spontaneously adapt to any context, with a high degree of precision. The language users show subtle control of nuances which allow for fluent and natural expression in all interactions.
